VBS – – almost 50 students ROOTED for Christ!

What a fabulous week of Vacation Bible School!  There were almost 50 students each day, with 14-16 teen helpers, along with the four energetic camp staff that help us learn the importance of being ROOTED in Christ.  A special thanks to Lori Baade, Moi Hopkins, Heidi Freeburg, and Angie Cook for the hours of prep work they did to help make this week such a great success!  Also, thanks to everyone who helped provide or serve snacks, helped with registration, or provided supplies for the week.  This is definitely a whole-church project!  Thanks for your part in helping us help get God’s Word ROOTED in their hearts!

Below are just a few pics from the week!

The theme:  ROOTED – in Grace, Christ, Faith and Truth

The VBS Camp Counselors:  Hannah, Sam, Greta, Liz, and Dani Cook

And what is VBS without great songs??

…. and more great songs!!

And of course, great snacks each day!  (Becky Ives, Pam Radig, and Vicki Kerns – Wednesday kitchen crew)

Fun and Games at the closing party – – thanks, Lori!

And each student attending VBS got to take home their very own tree on Thursday, so they could watch it get ROOTED!

Thanks for sharing the VBS songs with our family and friends!  It was a GREAT week!  We hope you can come back and join us when Sunday School resumes this fall!

VBS = Transformed kids + Awesome Experience!

IMG_20150723_093754576VBS Day Camp Week has come and gone and what a great week it was, too!  The Okoboji Ingham Counselors did a great job at helping us be TRANSFORMED in the image of Christ through skits, songs, games and fun projects!  Our day campers were super excited to meet and hang out with these great young adults and awesome examples of Christ!

Throughout the week, we learned that Jesus is our firm and secure foundation, that God has a blueprint (plan) for each of our lives, that he encourages us and gives us what we need to fulfill that plan, and finally, He asks that we go out and share His love and plan with others.

We also had fun dress-up days:  Pajama Day, Wacky Wednesday, and Class Colors Day.  They counselors really knew how to make our time ad Day Camp fun!

Our week ended Thursday night with a Day Camp program and “Build Your Own Ice Cream Sundaes!”  It was a great evening for all!

A week like this can only come together with the help and support of many willing hearts and hands.  The Education Team would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make this week such a great success!

  • Monday:  Built on Jesus  (“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Heb 6:19a)
  • Tuesday:  Built with God’s Instructions  (“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Prov 16:9)
  • Wednesday:  Built to Rise Up (“…but those who hope in the Lord with renew their strength.  They will sour on wings likes eagles;  they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint.”  Is 40:31)
  • Thursday: Built to Go  (“Therefore go and make disciples of nations…”  Matt 28:19)

If you have any questions, please call the church office at 335-3663.  Let the fun begin and let’s be TRANSFORMED!!

VBS = LOTS. OF. FUN!!!!

Wow!  Our Jungle Safari adventure was such a great time!  We had over 60 children join our jungle guides as we explored the nature of God and his attributes.

We learned that God is Creator, Provider, Protector, Savior, and King!  We also had a great time learning that since God provides and protects us, that we can do the same by helping others.  The Safari crew did many service projects, including bringing supplies for Upper Des Moines that over-filled three grocery carts!  Our mission project for the week was Back2Back Ministries, and the goal we set was  to raise $100.00.  God blessed us, because not only did our Safari crew help us reach our goal, we greatly exceeded it, and by our last evening, we reached over $356.00 for our project!  WOW!

We had a great time praying, praising, singing and shouting to God!  And there was no doubt that God was smiling as we sang his praises!  Thanks to all the organizers, teachers, and youth helpers who helped guide us on our Jungle Safari!  And parents, thanks for letting your kids join our adventure.  God is good, all the time!!
