After the awesome response to King’s Kids last year, Hope UMC is moving forward with a new format starting in January. We will not let COVID-19 stop a great thing!
First, kids need to REGISTER if they want to participate in this year’s King Kids program. A letter explaining it along with the registration form can be found by clicking King’s Kids 2021 Registration Form. Registration forms need to be back to the church by December 8th, so please help spread the word!
Second, we need adults to help SPONSOR a child. This year there will be a lot of behind the scenes prep and items needed to be purchased to get Kids Kids 2.0 up and running! 🙂 If you are willing to help sponsor a child for $20, please complete the Sponsor form and return it to the church no later than December11th. The Sponsor form can be found by clicking King’s Kids 2021 Sponsor form.
The mission of this program is to provide a fun, faith-filled educational program that would help equip the students with the necessary Bible-based skills needed to meet the challenges they face in our ever-changing world. King’s Kids is definitely one of the tools the communities in Pocahontas County can use to build and reinforce the great life lessons the Bible has to offer. Please help us spread the word!
If you were unable to join us for worship today (11/22/2020), listen to the great worship service below, provided by the Iowa United Methodist Church Conference! Oh, and grab your harmonica before you click start! 🙂 Praying you have a wonderful week and a blessed Thanksgiving!
If you want to join us for virtual worship and you have not done so before, please send an email to Pastor Kris before 4:00 today, (Kristine.email@example.com) and we will add you to the list. The link will be mailed out after 6:00 tonight, so if you do not have it before you go to bed, please check your spam/junk mail!
Also, look at the first drop off we made to Upper Des Moines! We had eight Thanksgiving boxes of supplies, as well as, all of the extra supplies in our cart! You guys are awesome! If you have a box of Thanksgiving supplies yet to drop off, remember they need to be to UDMO no later than Wednesday. If you drop your box off at the church, we will deliver it to UDMO!
Thanks for your generous sharing with others, and we HOPE to see you at worship tomorrow!
The Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes need to be dropped off at the church office by this Thursday, November 19th. The office is open from 1:00 – 5:00, so please be sure to get your boxes dropped off by then.
Also, if you can include the $9 shipping fee as well, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping make children’s Christmas a little bit brighter!
Effective immediately Hope will resume having virtual worship only at 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings due the high numbers of folks with COVID-19. Virtual worship requires internet or phone to access the service. For those who worshiped with us last spring virtually, we have your email address to send your link. If you have changed or recently acquired email, please send us the email address you would like your worship link sent. Please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4 PM Saturday. Worship links will be emailed Saturday evenings. If you desire a practice session, please let Pastor Kris know by noon Saturday and we will set one up for that afternoon.
Guidelines for Virtual Worship
Please participate by audio and video if possible. It is reassuring to others to see their church family in this time of isolation.
When not speaking please mute your microphone to cut down on background noise.
During some parts of the service everyone will be muted except the speaker.
Please be dressed and hair combed.
Please do not eat your breakfast on camera.
Remember, your camera shows what you put in front of it. Make sure it is at an appropriate height (especially if you are sitting in a recliner).
Please login to the service between 10:15 and 10:25 PM. We will start promptly at 10:30.
Please do not share the link with others to prevent interruptions from hacking.
The scripture and message will be recorded and placed online on our Facebook page and website usually Sunday afternoon for those unable to participate in the virtual service. Please “like” the service so we know you watched it.
Those joining by phone please note that this is a long distance call if not using a cell phone. Smart phones may join with both audio and video.
Remember to send you offering to: Hope United Methodist Church
We currently have two very important projects we hope you will consider participating in.
First, the Sunday School Mission project is Operation Christmas Child again this year. If you have a chance to grab one of the boxes at church (or grab a shoe box of your own!) and fill it accordingly. To see suggestions to fill your box, go to “What can go in the shoe box?” Boxes need to be back to the church by Thursday, Nov. 19th. Please include the $9 per box shipping fee if possible.
Also, have you accepted the UDMO “Fill the Box Thanksgiving” challenge? Just get one item as listed per day and fill a box to help a family in need. Boxes need to be at the UDMO office by Wednesday, Nov. 25th. If you want your box delivered, please simply bring it to church with you by Sunday, Nov. 20th. Let’s see how many boxes we can deliver!!
PS: UDMO is still in desperate need of paper towels, toilet paper, dishsoap, and laundry detergent as well!
A simple way to be sure to include God in our day is by using this simple method. Say a short phrase as you breathe in, and complete it as you breathe out. Some examples:
Breathe in (Lord Jesus Christ); Breathe out (have mercy on me).......
Breathe in (The Lord is my shepherd); Breathe out (I shall not want).......
Breathe in (Oh holy spirit); Breathe out (please guide me today).......
It's an easy way to include God in everything that we do!
