Fantastic time celebrating Jesus’ birthday!

It was such an AWESOME day celebrating Jesus’ birthday party with crafts, caroling, cupcakes, and cocoa! It was a great reminder that the true reason for the season is the best gift EVER – – the birth of Jesus Christ. He is a free gift to everyone who accepts him!

Thanks to everyone who came out to join us, and a special thanks to the Education Committee for planning this great event! Enjoy the pictures from today, and we look forward to doing this again next December!!

One Worship service this Sunday

This coming Sunday, December 12th, there will be only one worship service in Pocahontas @ 10:30 am.

This is because the Sunday School will be presenting their Christmas program entitled “The Christmas Story” at the 10:30 worship. Please join us for this wonderful part of the worship service focusing on the true reason for the season!

Remember to join us for Family Fun: Crafts, Cupcakes, Cocoa, & Caroling this Saturday

You are invited to come join the free Family Fun at Hope UMC this Saturday, December 11th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm as we host a birthday party for Jesus!

There will be a variety of fun crafts to make, birthday cupcakes and cocoa, and of course, Christmas caroling to be sung!

Please pass the word that this is open to ALL families that would love to come and share in this fun day!

We “HOPE” to see you there!

PS: If you want to bring a birthday gift, we will be collecting laundry detergent and dish soap for Upper Des Moines.

Gospel of Luke invitation

Pastor K invited all of us to read a chapter each day in the Gospel of Luke as we prepare for the celebration of Jesus’s birth.

For those who have not started, it’s not too late!! You can easily read a couple of chapters each day until you catch up! So, to be on track, you would read Luke chapter 7 on December 7th, Luke chapter 8 on December 8th, and so on.

What a great way to prepare our hearts and minds on the true reason for this blessed season!

Hope UMC Worship 12-5-2021

If you were unable to join us for worship on Sunday, you can listen to the service below. Happy December, and keep the true reason for the season in your hearts! He wants your PRESENCE; not your PRESENTS!

Welcome to our new church family friends!

We were so blessed today to have many new people become part of our church family! It was such a great celebration! Then after church, many of us carpooled to Algona to see the POW Nativity scene and the museum. It was great to see such great history in our own back yard! If you have never taken time to see it, it is worth your drive!

Clifford the Big Red Dog movie night a success!

The movie outing to watch Clifford, the Big Red Dog at the Rialto Theatre was a huge success AND a lot of fun! There were 28 kids who attended this movie. Thanks to Emma and John for organizing this event for any youth who wanted to attend! Stay tuned for the next adventure! (HINT: next Saturday – birthday party for Jesus!)

5th Quarter Fun on Friday night

Thanks to everyone who came and/or helped with 5th Quarter Fun on Friday night. It was a great time with a great group of youth!

Join us for Jesus’ birthday party!

You are invited to a FREE, fun, family party celebrating the birth of our Savior on Saturday, December 11th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

There will be lots of fun crafts, caroling, cupcakes and cocoa for the whole family!

If you would like to bring a birthday gift, we will be collecting laundry detergent and dish soap for Upper Des Moines.

We “HOPE” you can join us for celebrating the true reason for the season!

Join us this Sunday, Dec. 5th to see the POW Nativity scene in Algona

This Sunday, December 5th, our church family is planning an outing to Algona to visit the nativity set and POW museum. The nativity was built by German POW’s during World War II.  We will also be visiting the Camp Algona museum.

The nativity  is operated off of free will donations. Admission into the museum is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.  The plan is to carpool from the Pocahontas church parking lot, leaving at 1:30.  We will congregate at the Pizza Ranch in Algona around 5:45-6:00. This  is not just an outing for adults as children would benefit from learning about this slice of Iowa history.

Please spread the word. This is a great opportunity to see this unique piece of history in our own backyard!
