What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of pretzels? Is it the fun knot shape that pretzels are known for? Or is it the hearty crunch and salt that covers the pretzel? Salt has it’s own unique flavor that makes food so tasty. It’s no wonder we can’t eat just one pretzel, chip, or French fry!!

In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus told his followers that he wanted them to be the salt. He wanted them to spread the good news that Jesus loved them. When we love people the way Jesus loves us, we make knowing Jesus as irresistible as a bag of pretzels! 🙂

Being salt is only half the message from Matthew 5:13-16. Jesus also said we need to be the light of the world. He told his followers they needed to let their light shine so the world could see it just like they could see a city that was built on the hill.

Jesus didn’t tell us he’d send people to be salt and light. He said to everyone who could hear, “You are the salt of the earth. YOU are the light of the world.” It’s up to us to let the world know that Jesus loves them. Jesus is counting on us to spread our salt and be His light!
