After Epiphany series continues: #Blessed

Last Sunday during our ongoing Worship series:  After Epiphany:  The Great Invitation, the message was on “Follow Me.”   How have you been Following Jesus as his disciple this week?  Please share your experience to encourage others to Follow Jesus as a disciple also.

Tomorrow, January 29th, our After Epiphany:  The Great Invitation series continues with #Blessed.

We’ve seen Jesus in action. Now we settle in for the first of four weeks to hear him teach his first disciples with a large crowd in the background.  He sets us straight about who and what God’s kingdom is blessing in the world.

How are you Blessed? What does it mean to be Blessed?  Come learn what Jesus taught about this in worship tomorrow.

Worship begins at 8:30 a.m. in Plover and at  10 a.m. in Pocahontas at Hope UMC.  We “Hope” to see you there!

Epiphany Series continues: Come & See

This Sunday, January 15th,  our  “After Epiphany:  The Great Invitation” sermon series continues with “Come & See.”

In the story of the calling of the first disciples from John’s gospel, we are inspired and challenged to come and see how Jesus lives ourselves and to continue to invite those we know to come with us.

Sunday School classes begin @ 9:00, and Worship begins at 10:00 a.m.  We “Hope” you will join us!

With a knit, knit here, and a knit, knit there…. the “Missions” continue at Hope UMC

One of the most energizing things about Hope UMC is our passion for Missions.  In 2016, we donated over $30,000 to various mission projects.   The ones featured today involve those avid knitters  (yes, you know who you are!) who seldom drop a stitch in order to help others.

The first picture is of 86 purple caps – – and no, they are NOT for the one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater!  🙂  They were sent to the Iowa CLICK for Babies  Campaign from Hope UMC.   CLICK for Babies is a North America initiative to help educate caregivers about normal infant crying, how to cope with crying and the dangers of reacting to crying in frustration by shaking or harming an infant. If you want to know more about this campaign, click HERE.    And if you want to join in the fun, or have extra purple yarn you want to share, just let us know!

And, if those adorable purple hats weren’t enough, our world famous knitters also created another 180 baby caps for the Iowa Nigeria Partnership, which were taken to our District Ingathering Meeting this fall.  They will be shipped to Nigeria this spring, and hopefully arrive in Nigeria by June.

So, if this is a passion you could get “hooked” on, and you want to start a new hobby, consider starting small – – with baby caps!

And a special thanks to those many hands who helped knit all of these wonderful caps!  Can’t you just see the smiles they will be bringing??

Sunday School Resumes & Epiphany Sermon Series continues

Well, it’s time to get back into our routines… Sunday School classes will resume tomorrow, January 8th, at 9:00 a.m. at Hope UMC,

Also, we started a new sermon series last week entitled:  After Epiphany – the Great Invitation.  Last week, Epiphany Sunday, was on “Reveal.”

This Sunday, January 8th, the series will continue with “The Heavens are Opened.”  We witness the baptism of Jesus, reaffirm the baptismal covenant, and enter anew into the mystery of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit from “opened heavens” for the work of evangelism that lies ahead of us during the coming weeks.

We “Hope” to see you there!

Blessings for the New Year
